Welcome to the August 2024 edition of the Total Livestock Genetics dairy sire directory. The sires within this directory are selected on a combination of Australian and international breeding values. While we fully appreciate and believe in the quality of the Australian dairy herd, we also recognise that the strength of the ‘Australian cow’ is built on the use of genetics from around the world over many decades.
We believe in choice and this directory provides you with the opportunity to use a combination of sires selected for Production, Health, Management and Type traits with a strong emphasis on Protein, Fertility, Polled and diversity of pedigree.
The headline Holstein offerings include EXCITEMENT (Exquisite x Persuit) with an impressive +3258 GTPI and $493 BPIg, and CASIMIRO (Overtake x Zazzle) +3250 GTPI and $467 BPIg with exceptional fertility +2.6 DPR and udders +2.12 Udder composite. These two sires along with many more are directly sourced from Genex through the PEAK breeding program. They are great examples of the depth within this directory.
Four of the Australian standing bulls that really pack a punch are MDOUGLAS PP(Fomo x Bighit) Homozygous Polled, +2843 GTPI and $425 BPIg along with an exceptional Canadian dataset, MAGNET (Parfect x Magnitude) +2939 GTPI and $455 BPIg, high milk flow with positive components along with a very balanced linear. Upcoming sire ENZO (Dropbox x Einstein) sits in the top 10 on ABVs with a BPIg of 554 and extreme fertility at +118. RIZBOY (Manhatten x Montana) +2851 GTPI and $551 BPIg was amongst our most popular sires last year and his profile is still very strong rounds out a comprehensive domestic bull offering.
Our Jersey offer includes Australian daughter proven with BASHFUL-P (Oliver p x Vanahlem) continuing to turn heads as his heifers perform exceptionally well in their first lactation. At $324 BPI, BASHFUL-P is the number two sire on the daughter proven list and leaves exceptional udders. There is also a new genomic sire in SONGSIDE (Woodside x Vanahlem) and he is amongst the most complete sires available with $352 BPIg, +400 Milk, +110 Overall Type & +112 Mammary. The next sire to join the team is GRAYSON PP (Winthrop p x Obsidian p), who at 148 JPIg, is the number 1 Homozygous polled (no JX) jersey in the world, with a complete outcross pedigree, combined with a high US mammary JUI of +15.5.
